Nidec Elesys factory in Novi Sad
The Nidec project encompassed the construction of complete installations (civil, mechanical, and electrical) for clean rooms (approximately 9,000 square meters) and associated areas (offices and warehouses) for the Nidec factory in Novi Sad. The factory manufactures inverters for electric vehicles in compliance with strict European Union environmental regulations and will serve as a base for Nidec Corporation’s European operations.
At the investor’s request, necessary modifications were made to the existing factory hall—specifically, the construction of a clean room and associated spaces required for production (airlocks for material and air showers for personnel, offices, laboratories, warehouses, technical areas, etc.).
– Construction Works: Steel structure, installation of clean room panels, and construction works in administrative and warehouse areas.
– Mechanical Installations: Ventilation and air conditioning of the production area, distribution of compressed air and technical gases, as well as local exhaust systems for waste gases needed for process equipment.
– Electrical, Signal, and Telecommunications Installations: General power supply and process equipment power, lighting, building management system (BMS), and security and communication systems.
For the production process, specific environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, pressure, air quality) are maintained according to the VDA 19.2 standard – Technical cleanliness in assembly – Environment, Logistics, Personnel and Assembly Equipment.
For the construction of clean rooms, materials specifically designed for this purpose must be used, with all necessary certifications ensuring their suitability for clean room construction. The walls and ceilings are made from coated steel panels with polyurethane-based insulation, with glass integrated into the panels. All doors are designed without rubber seals to ensure perfect hygiene maintenance and include integrated access control. Special attention was given to the flooring. A vapor barrier was first applied over the existing floor slab to ensure the required moisture conditions in the substrate, followed by the installation of conductive PVC flooring across the entire surface. Appropriate clean room lighting, as well as antibacterial outlets and switches, were used for the electrical installations within the clean room.
Access to the production area is through two air showers, each capable of accommodating 7 people. We would like to emphasize that both the complete design and construction of the air showers were carried out exclusively by our employees, including engineers and technicians, and the designed parameters were confirmed by our accredited laboratory, Lab Prova.
Materials for production are introduced through active pass-boxes, while finished products are removed through passive pass-boxes. This controlled method of handling people and materials, combined with maintaining positive pressure in the production area, ensures maximum protection of the production process in terms of cleanliness and the maintenance of required air parameters (temperature and relative humidity).
The greatest challenge of the entire project was meeting the deadlines and providing the investor with the use of the space to commence production. Following this, during the trial production phase, all remaining work had to be completed. With the effort of all participants and proper organization, the entire clean room along with its accompanying areas, achieving the necessary environmental conditions for production, was completed within just three months, from January 16 to April 20.
This project required perfect coordination of all activities and a large number of workers on site, while strictly adhering to all safety regulations. In the end, we are proud to report that, despite the high pace of work, there were no worker injuries or equipment damage during the execution of the project.
From a technical standpoint, the challenge was to provide a maximally energy-efficient system with minimal investment and operational costs. We achieved this thanks to our technical solutions, which the investor recognized from the start, leading to their trust in our expertise.
